Register My Permit and Pay Fees

Below are instructions for account registration for online payment of annual operational septic permit (OPR) fees.

Invoice is required to register your operational permits (OPR) and pay fees for your OPR permits. Watch your mail (US Postal Service) for your Annual Renewal Invoice.

As we continue to transition to a paperless billing process, we ask that you create a Permits Online account (if you don't already have one) and link your permit to that account. Below are instructions to:

Note: Registration is optional. You may skip this process and: Pay Your Fee Directly

Permit Sonoma does not charge a credit card fee for payments made online.

Create a Permits Online Account

You must have a Permits Online account to register your OPR permit, so start here first. If you already have an account, skip down to Register Your Permit with Your Account and Pay Fees.

  1. Go to Permits Online at: prmd.sonomacounty.ca.gov
  2. Select "Register / Log In" from the main navigation menu bar.
  3. Select the "Register Now" button.
  4. Read Disclaimer and mark box next to “I have Read and accepted the above terms”
  5. Select Continue Registration button.
  6. Enter a User Name, valid e-mail address, and a password (twice).
  7. Security question/answer is free form. For example “What was your first pet’s name?”
  8. To add your new billing contact information, select Add New.
  9. Contact type = Contact , select Continue.
  10. Enter Full Name, Business Name (optional), Address, City, State,and Zip.
  11. Enter Main Phone number, and optional Alternate phone, and FAX number.
  12. Enter E-mail address. Usually same one as you entered on Login Information page.
  13. Select Continue.
  14. New Account confirm dialogue is displayed (you may have to scroll-down the page to see it).
    You will see the notation "The information you entered is not found." This is normal. The system is confirming that you have not already created an account with the same account credentials.
    To accept the above information and create your account, select Continue.
  15. Login Information and Contact Information is displayed here, please verify. Select Continue Registration.
  16. Your account has been created. Continue with Step A 1 below.

Register Your Permit with Your Account and Pay Fees

A. Login to Account

  1. Go to Permits Online at: prmd.sonomacounty.ca.gov
  2. Within the Annual OPR Payment white banner, select the "Register Permit" button.
  3. Enter User Name and Password for your Account, select Login. (If you are already logged in, you will be at step 4.)
  4. Read terms and conditions and then check the box next to "I have read and accepted the above terms."
  5. Select Continue Application.

B. Registration Record

  1. Under Token Entry, enter the Verification Code printed on your invoice. (Your Verification Code will differ from the example depicted below.)

  2. Under Billing Contact, choose Select from Account (if only one it will auto-populate).
  3. In lower right corner, select Continue Application.
  4. Make sure the Verification Code matched your invoice.
  5. Select Continue Application.
  6. To see OPR permit attached to your Account, select Well and Septic tab.
  7. Select OPR number to see details.

C. Operational Permit Payment

  1. Select Payments, then select Fees.
  2. Under Fees/Outstanding, verify Invoice Number and Amount. (Your Invoice Number and Amount may differ from the examples depicted below.)
  3. Select Pay Fees.

  4. Select Continue Application.
  5. Enter Credit Card Information and Card Holder Information.
  6. Mark Auto-Fill checkbox to use address information from your Account.
  7. Select Submit Payment.
  8. Your OPR permit has been paid.
