Permit Sonoma in a COVID-19 Environment

From 17 March to 05 April, Permit Sonoma and the Resiliency Permit Center will move from physical to virtual operation, using e-submittals, telephony, and other technologies. Both offices will be closed physically. Most employees will work from home. Except for inspections subject to social distancing and other health and safety measures, staff communications with the public will occur by e-mail and telephone.

With any big and sudden change, it will not be perfect. We will make mistakes and, with your help, get them corrected as quickly as possible. This disaster also affords us the opportunity to conduct our business differently, so please be open new business practices emanating from our organization.

Permit Sonoma Launching Video Inspections

For the duration of the COVID-19 Shelter in Place declaration, Permit Sonoma will continue to provide many building inspection services by transitioning to remote video technology. Our goal is to keep your projects moving while protecting everyone from the spread of COVID-19. Initially, VuSpex mobile app video inspections will be limited to the Permit Sonoma Building division and will not include the Resiliency Permit Center or Engineering division inspections. Those teams are likely to transition as well in the near future.

Please follow the instructions to get started with your first video inspection. If you have scheduled a building inspection through Selectron or Citizens Access, our inspection team will call the morning of the date you scheduled your inspection to answer any questions and schedule a more precise time for your video inspection to begin.
