J. Kevin Jones Jr.Growing up in western Pennsylvania (and tired of cold winters), Kevin knew that upon finishing grad school (JD/MBA from Washington University in St Louis), if he did not see palm trees when he arrived at his first job, he was in the wrong place.  His journey to California, however, took longer than he had hoped.

Kevin’s first position was in Chicago. He soon transferred to New York City, where he spent twenty-five years building a successful career in banking. During that time, he also found a passion for workplace diversity and gender issues. In 2009, Kevin moved to the Bay Area to join Out & Equal Workplace Advocates, as its Deputy Director, working full time helping corporations and government agencies to develop LGBTQI-inclusive policies and practices.

And he found his palm trees.

In 2010, Kevin moved to Petaluma with his husband, Tony, and fell in love with Sonoma County.  He left Out & Equal (and the San Francisco commute) in 2013 and started a process that led to his purchase of the FASTSIGNS franchise in Santa Rosa in 2014 (opening another location in Petaluma later that year).

In addition to his work on the Commission for Human Rights, Kevin is a proud alum of Leadership Petaluma, and is active at St John’s Episcopal Church in Petaluma. He sings with the Sonoma Valley Chorale (serving on their Board of Director as Treasurer) and is a member of the Steering Committee for the Sonoma County Foundation’s LGBTQI Giving Circle.
