Discussion on next steps following the January 29, 2018 forum on the housing crunch in Petaluma. Consensus was a future agenda item was needed that specifically focused on the issue of homelessness due to the complexity of the issue. No action was taken. Educational Forum at Springs Community Hall, Sonoma Valley – Smith, Sapper, Patterson, Jones – 15 Minutes
Commissioner Smith outlined a potential public forum on education to be held in the 1st District on March 28, 2018. Press release needs to be reviewed by Outreach and sent out within the next week. School district staff and trustees will be invited. The meeting will be held at the Sonoma Springs Community Hall located at 18627 CA-12, Sonoma, CA 95476. Translation services will be provided.
Following an abbreviated business meeting, there will be a public forum with speakers addressing:
- Civil Rights Protections in Schools
- Restorative Justice
- Educational Achievement
- Special Education

Commissioners discussed potentially holding a public forum in May 2018 in the 5th District. Commissioner Estrin to look into the availability of a venue for potential dates of May 21, 23, or 30 and report back at March meeting. No action was taken. - Request for
Authorization to Participate in Fundraising Activities – Jones, Outreach Committee – 10 Minutes
Commissioners to review documentation to support a request to the Board of Supervisors for authorization to raise funds to launch the Safe Sonoma County campaign and report back to the Chair with feedback by March 10. No action was taken. - Administrative Report

Staff discussed tabling opportunities for 2018. Commissioner Meraz proposed sharing a booth with the Commission on the Status of Women at the Santa Rosa Wednesday Night Market, with CHR paying the associated fee.
