Sonoma County Animal Services Hosts Coffee with an ACO

Santa Rosa,CA | October 01, 2018

Sonoma County Animal Services invites members of the community to its Coffee with an ACO (Animal Control Officer) event on Wednesday October 3rd from 7 a.m. to 9 a.m. at Kaffe Mocha located at 397 Aviation Boulevard in Santa Rosa.

Come meet County animal control officers in an informal, neutral space to discuss community issues related to animal services, and of course, enjoy a cup of coffee. The officers will hear your concerns, comments and questions to foster a better relationship with the community at large.

“Coffee with an ACO is a great opportunity for the community to meet their neighborhood animal control officers and ask them questions or address community concerns in a very casual and relaxed setting. These types of interactions are important in understanding the work of animal control and its value to the community,” said Animal Services Director John Skeel.

In years past, Animal Services officers have supported County law enforcement agencies at similar events doing outreach to the public, however this year County Animal Services decided to organize its own event.

“Sonoma County Animal Control has daily interactions with animals and their owners in the community and many times these interactions happen during emergencies or other stressful circumstances – not necessarily the best time to strike up a conversation,” explained Skeel.

The public is encouraged to follow Sonoma County Animal Services on Facebook and Instagram to learn about these and other upcoming community outreach events.
