First 5 California Express Bus Visits Roseland Community Library Branch to Promote Talk. Read. Sing.®

Santa Rosa, CA  –  February 8, 2016  –  Tomorrow, on February 9, 2016, the First 5 Sonoma County Commission, First 5 of California, and the Sonoma County Library will have a day dedicated for celebrating children and their families. The First 5 Family Engagement Express Bus is visiting our community at the Roseland Library Branch and offering a range of activities, books, and other prizes. The First 5 Family Engagement Express Bus is a bilingual children’s activity center that travels across California to inspire families with children ages 5 and younger to make healthy choices and to understand the importance of a child’s earliest years.

The Talk. Read. Sing.® event will be making its appearance this Tuesday February 9, 2016 from 11:00am to 1:30pm at the Roseland Community Library Branch located at 779 Sebastopol Road near the Dollar Tree store. There is no RSVP required to attend. For more information please contact (707) 565-6623.

This year's focus is on the importance of talking, reading and singing with children from day one and its impact on early brain development. Activities are geared toward engaging children and their families in fun Talk. Read. Sing.® behaviors that inspire the continuation of these healthy activities at home. Giveaway items will also be provided for free to all visitors of The Express providing the resources needed to help sustain that healthy behavior change.

The nine-member First 5 Sonoma County Commission was established through the California Children and Families First Act of 1998 and directed to promote, support, and improve the early development of children from the prenatal stage through five years of age. The Act established a tobacco tax which funds the work of this Commission.
