Cavity Free Sonoma

Children’s Dental Health Project for Sonoma County

cavity-free-sonoma-200.pngThe Cavity Free Sonoma Pilot Project is for children ages 0-6 years of age who are enrolled in Medi-Cal. Families are provided with a dental assessment that lets parents know if  their children are at high, medium or low risk for dental disease.

Each child and parent or caregiver meets with a bilingual Community Dental Health Worker, recently trained at Santa Rosa Junior College, who helps patients and their parents understand oral health, and provides behavior coaching in a culturally relevant way.

The health worker also helps the parent or caregiver download an app to track appointments, monitor health goals, and gets tips and reminders via their Apple or Android device.
