Caring for Animals During a Storm

Sonoma County Animal Services is a resource for people and animals, especially during stormy weather. Call us or our partners below for assistance.

For Large Animals

Sonoma County Fairgrounds is available to take livestock in for shelter for a fee. Owners will need to care for their animals themselves throughout their stay at the Fairgrounds.

Any relocation to the Fairgrounds does need to be prearranged. Animal Services can assist with that portion of the relocation effort. 

For Companion Animals

Sonoma County Animal Services is available to help any individual with relocating and sheltering companion animals during the storm.

Animal Services dispatch is available at (707) 565-7100 from 8:00 a.m. to 5:30 p.m. and after hours you can call Sonoma County Sheriff’s Dispatch at (707) 565-2121

Shelter information can be obtained by calling 2-1-1.

Please visit the Public Safety website for storm updates. Press releases will include "Evacuation and Shelter" information indicating what shelters are open and can accept companion animals.
