The Human Resources Department approves alternate promotions. Per Civil Service Rule 6.2, A., HR requires evidence that the employee possesses the minimum qualifications for the higher class in order to approve.
Human Resources recommends that each department head designate specific employees or positions with the responsibility for processing alternate promotions. It is also recommended that each department designate a senior ranking manager to oversee the request process to ensure compliance with requirements and consistency in the conduct of processing.
To process an alternate promotion appointment, complete the Multi-Change Transaction Form per the directions detailed on the form. Contact your department’s Human Resources Recruitment and Classification Analyst regarding any question related to alternate promotions.
