Animal Services

The County of Sonoma Animal Services department is often seeking volunteers to serve as animal companions – for dogs, cats, rabbits and other small animals, or as foster care providers for special needs animals. Additionally, they occasionally seek client service volunteers, photographers, and blanket makers.

There is a required time commitment of two to four hours per week, for at least four to six months. You must be 9 years of age or older (ages 9-16 years must be accompanied by an adult partner, typically a parent or guardian); those ages 16-18 may volunteer independently with parental consent.

Current opportunities will be announced below.

  • If there are no listings on this page at this time, it could be that the department or program is not soliciting volunteers at this time.
  • You can opt to submit an application and resume if you’d like, but there is no guarantee that you will hear from the department or program if there are not openings. Complete the volunteer application and email it to volunteer@sonoma-county.orgor drop it off at County of Sonoma Human Resources, Volunteer Program.
