Green Business Certification

Carlile Macy

Established in 1996, the  California Green Business Certification is provided by a network of local programs run by cities and counties throughout California, allied in promoting a green economy through partnerships with small to medium size businesses.

About Green Business Certification

The Sonoma County Green Business Program is part of the statewide California Green Business Network, whose mission is to assist businesses to operate sustainably as well as profitably.  Climate Action and Resiliency Division staff provides no-cost energy and sustainability technical assistance, including energy and water assessments, to small and medium sized businesses who choose to become a certified Green Business.  To be certified, participants must be in compliance with all environmental regulations and meet Green Business program standards for saving water, conserving energy, preventing pollution, minimizing waste, and implementing best practices.

Green Businesses receive free technical assistance, access to rebates, public promotion, and are seen as leaders in the community.  Sonoma County Green Businesses are listed in the California Green Business Directory, https://greenbusinessca.org/find-green-business/, use the Green Business logo in marketing materials, and benefit from ongoing marketing and social media campaigns.  Program support and marketing materials are available in both English and Spanish.
