  • Sonoma County Fire Safety Ordinance, all roadway and driveway structures shall be designed, constructed, and maintained in accordance with applicable sections of the county building and fire code, the Standard Specifications for Highway Bridges, and any administrative regulations and shall have a minimum designed live-load capacity of HS 20.
  • Building inspection requests are made through the Automated Inspection Request System, SELECTRON, which is a computer system that allows callers to use a touch tone telephone to schedule and cancel building inspections from 6:00 a.m. to 12:00 a.m. (midnight) seven (7) days a week. In most cases, SELECTRON schedules inspections for the next working day. Inspections in The Sea Ranch, Timber Cove, Annapolis, and areas north of the towns of Cazadero and Jenner are provided on Monday and Friday only. Please refer to the “Automated Inspection Request System” handout for complete instructions and inspection type codes. In order to schedule an inspection, the following is required
  • Operational fire permits are a way to manage properties and business for fire and life safety. These include License Care Facilities, Pyrotechnic Displays, Special Events, Tent Permits, Vendor and Cooking Booth Inspections.
  • Since February 25, 2003, the County of Sonoma Board of Supervisors approved a Sonoma County Fire Safety Ordinance Numbers. #5402 (2003), #5373 (2007), #5905 (2010) and #6049 (2013); to require fire sprinklers for both residential and commercial occupancies (with some exceptions).
  • Per Fire Safe Standards Sec 13-38, gate entrances shall be at least two feet (2') wider than the width of the traffic lane(s) serving the gate.
  • In an effort to provide both fire department emergency access and building security for buildings, Sonoma County Fire and Emergency Services Department has selected the Knox Box public Safety Key Box System for use in accomplishment of these goals.

  • Permit Applications
  • Sonoma County Fire and Emergency Services Department is responsible for all special events located in the unincorporated area of Sonoma County. It is the responsibility of the event holder to comply with all State and Local codes. The Applicant is required to fill out and return the special event form along with site maps and description of the event. This application is additional to the paper work required by Permit and Resource Management Department . A copy will be forwarded to the local fire authority for review. Applications should be submitted 30 days prior to the start of the event. Events submitted after the 30 days are subject to additional fees.
