California Broadband Council
The California Broadband Council was established by legislation in 2010 (S.B. 1462 – Padilla) to marshal the state’s resources to further the objectives of increasing broadband network deployment, and eliminating the Digital Divide by expanding broadband accessibility, literacy, adoption, and usage.
North Bay North Coast Broadband Consortium (NBNCBC)
An application for a three-year, $450,000 planning study grant has been submitted to the CPUC for the formation of a new Consortium consisting of Marin, Mendocino, Napa and Sonoma Counties. As the counties are contiguous to Sonoma and share many resources in addition to broadband needs, collaborative work is expected to be fruitful and beneficial. ASB will contribute the volunteer work necessary as required for Sonoma’s portion of the grant award. A manager and deputy manager have been selected from each county providing the data gathered to collaborate on a consortium level.
