Two Sentenced to Prison for Santa Rosa Home Invasion Robbery

Santa Rosa, CA  –  March 3, 2017  –  Defendants Miguel Flores, Jr. and Fidencio Bocanegra-Reyes were sentenced to state prison yesterday by the Honorable Jamie Thistlethwaite after having pled no contest in late January to charges of conspiracy to commit home invasion robbery, and residential burglary after the court dismissed murder charges. Pursuant to a plea agreement with the District Attorney’s Office, Flores Jr. was sentenced to six years in state prison, and Bocanegra-Reyes was sentenced to ten years and four months state prison.

District Attorney Ravitch stated, “The actions of the defendants were premeditated and extremely violent. Luckily none of the victims, including the young children, were injured or killed by their conduct.”

The charges resulted from a February 23, 2015 attempted robbery at an Acacia Lane residence in Santa Rosa. On that date a group of men went to a known marijuana grower’s residence armed with firearms and a maul. Sometime before 1:00 a.m., three of the robbers walked up to the front door of the residence, and one of them smashed the maul against the front door in an effort to break down the door. The homeowner was in bed asleep, as was his girlfriend and two young children. Upon realizing what was happening, the homeowner grabbed a gun and started shooting at the robbers from a bedroom window. At least one of the men shot back at the homeowner as the other robbers ran away. A silver SUV was seen in the area at the time of the shooting. Defendant Miguel Flores was detained approximately one hour later driving the silver SUV in the parking lot of Kaiser. Co-defendant Fidencio Bocanegra-Reyes was located in the backseat, severely injured from a gunshot wound to the abdomen. The third man, later identified as Pablo Reyes-Martinez, suffered two gunshot wounds and was immediately declared dead on scene.

The case was prosecuted by Deputy District Attorney Carla Rodriguez, assisted by District Attorney Investigator Mark Azzouni. Detective Greg Wojcik of the Santa Rosa Police Department headed the investigation.
