Rohnert Park Pimp Receives Prison Sentence for Trafficking Two 17 Year Old Victims

Santa Rosa, CA  –  June 22, 2016  –  District Attorney Jill Ravitch announced today that the Honorable Jamie Thistlethwaite sentenced Rohnert Park resident Edgar Aron Hernandez (19) to prison for 4 years 4 months.  Hernandez received the prison sentence for pimping two 17 year-old minors.

In November of 2015, Rohnert Park Department of Public Safety was contacted by detectives from the Sacramento Police Department regarding a suspected human trafficking case.  Sacramento had information that a 17 year-old female was being trafficked by Hernandez.  A records check revealed that Hernandez was currently on probation and had two outstanding warrants for his arrest.

With the assistance of the Santa Rosa Police Department, search warrants were executed and Hernandez was contacted and arrested.  Additional investigation revealed the targeted victim was being housed in a local motel.  That victim was found and rescued.  The second victim who was also being trafficked by Hernandez was located in Sacramento.  Hernandez facilitated the trafficking by the use of on-line advertisements, various websites, his computer, and cell phone.

District Attorney Jill Ravitch stated that, “Human Trafficking cases continue to be on the rise throughout the bay area, state of California, nationally, and internationally.  Human Traffickers generate approximately $150 billion in profit by victimizing millions of people in the United States and around the world.  Traffickers are estimated to exploit 20.9 million victims globally, with an estimated 1.5 million victims in North America alone.  One out of every five endangered runaways are likely to become child sex trafficking victims.  Sadly, this modern day slavery victimizes women and children from every walk of life due to greed and inhumane brutality.   Mr. Hernandez exploited these young victims emotionally as well as sexually.   He repeatedly placed these victims in immeasurable danger for his own selfish profit.”

This case was prosecuted by Assistant District Attorney Bill Brockley and the combined investigate team of Rohnert Park Public Safety Detective Tara Douglas and Santa Rosa Police Detective Chris Mahurin.
