Santa Rosa, CA – August 18, 2017 – Defendant
Alexander William Parlato, 30 years old of Novato, was sentenced earlier today
to serve 22 years in state prison after having pled “no contest” in April of this
year to charges of sexually and physically assaulting his former
girlfriend. The defendant was sentenced by Sonoma County Superior Court
Judge Patrick Broderick.
Attorney Ravitch stated, “This was an egregious case involving a brutal assault.
The callous and violent nature of this offense justifies a long prison
occurred in the early morning hours of June 8, 2016. The victim, a
55-year-old Sonoma resident, reluctantly allowed the defendant into her house
when he complained he was too intoxicated to drive home. After he
entered, he attempted to have sex with the victim. When she resisted he
beat and sexually assaulted her. The victim managed to escape and ran to
a nearby neighbor who called police. As a result of the attack, the
victim suffered a broken nose and numerous other injuries to her face, arms,
On April 26th
of this year Parlato entered “no contest” pleas to one count of rape, one count
of forced digital penetration, and one count of felony domestic violence
causing great bodily injury. He also admitted a prior “strike”
offense. In addition to the 22 year prison sentence, Parlato will be
required to register as a sex offender for the rest of his life and may be
subject to additional incarceration as a sexually violent predator. The three
new convictions also qualify as “strike” offenses.
The case was prosecuted by Deputy District
Attorney Barbara Nanney. Sheriff’s Detective Matt Regan investigated the
case on behalf of the Sonoma County Sheriff’s Department.
