Santa Rosa, CA – October 28, 2016 – Defendant
Amante Erwin Robinson, 23-years-old of Santa Rosa, was sentenced Thursday
October 27th, 2016, to 23 years in state prison by Judge Patrick
Broderick after having pled no contest to robbery and gun enhancement charges
in July of this year. The defendant will be required to serve a minimum of 85%
of the sentence before his release.
The robbery was
reported to law enforcement by the victims after they awoke in the early
morning hours on Montecito Boulevard in Santa Rosa to find Robinson inside
their apartment. Startled, the two victims chased Robinson out of their
apartment. When he ran into a closed-off street, Robinson withdrew a 9mm
handgun from his waistband and fired three shots at one of the victims,
striking him once in the leg. Although Robinson was able to evade the
victims, he was contacted in the area by law enforcement a short time later
where he was found in possession of the firearm. The victims indicated
that the defendant had ransacked the apartment and had taken cash and medical
Jill Ravitch stated, “To be startled awake late at night in one’s home by an
armed intruder is an experience that no one should have to endure.
Nevertheless, the victims in this case are extremely lucky that they survived
this defendant’s actions. This type of violent behavior warrants a
significant sentence which we believe was imposed on the defendant.”
The case was
prosecuted by Deputy District Attorney Tania Partida. Santa Rosa Police
Detective Gregory Wojcik headed the investigation.
