Three Time Felony DUI Offender Sentenced To Six Years State Prison
Santa Rosa, CA – May 3, 2016 – District Attorney Jill Ravitch has announced that on April 29, 2016, Defendant William Alexander Andes was sentenced to six years in state prison on a third felony DUI conviction. This occurred after the defendant had been placed on probation and ordered into a rehabilitation program, which he left without permission.
District Attorney Ravitch stated, “This defendant was given multiple opportunities by the courts to modify his behavior. Nevertheless, he continued to drive impaired and failed to address his addiction. This sentence will help keep the community safer.”
The charges arose when Cotati Police stopped the vehicle the defendant was driving after observing it weaving heavily on Highway 101. The driver, William Alexander Andes, was contacted and displayed signs and symptoms consistent with someone under the influence of alcohol. The defendant denied drinking. He was placed under arrest and a subsequent chemical test revealed his blood alcohol content was .21 percent.
The case was prosecuted by Deputy District Attorney Christopher Brown of the District Attorney’s Vertical DUI Unit. Funding for this program was provided by a grant from the California Office of Traffic Safety, through the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration. The Cotati Police Department headed the investigation.
