Former School Janitor Sentenced in Child Porn Case

Santa Rosa, CA  –  May 12, 2016  –  District Attorney Jill Ravitch has announced that earlier today defendant Dominick Lee Hanson, 37-years-old of Windsor, was sentenced by the Honorable Jamie Thistlethwaite after having previously pleaded no contest to one felony count of possessing child pornography.  The court imposed an extended probation period of four years, three months county jail, and required Hansen to register as a sex offender for life.

At the time of his arrest Hansen was employed as a janitor with the City of Santa Rosa Schools.  He was terminated as a result of his arrest and conviction.

District Attorney Ravitch stated, “Young people’s lives are destroyed by the production and dissemination of this material.”

The case resulted from an investigation by the Sonoma County Sheriff Department.  In December, 2013, Detectives suspected Hansen of possessing child pornography on his computer after an investigation using peer to peer networks leading to his IP address.  After several months of further investigation the child pornography was located on a flash drive discovered at Hansen’s residence.

The case was prosecuted by Deputy District Attorney Thomas Gotshall. Detective John Buergler and Sgt. Orlando Rodriguez of the Sonoma County Sheriff Department headed the investigation.
