Santa Rosa, CA – April 19, 2016 – District Attorney Jill Ravitch has announced that earlier today defendant William Dresbach III, 70-years-old of Rohnert Park, was sentenced by the Honorable Judge Jamie Thistlethwaite after having been convicted by a jury in March of misdemeanor sexual battery, and practicing massage therapy without a valid
District Attorney Ravitch stated, “Once again, we are pleased the jury held the defendant responsible for his actions. This individual held himself out to the community as a person who could be trusted to provide services to clients in a vulnerable setting. Needless to say he repeatedly violated
Defendant was charged with misdemeanor sexual battery after a young woman reported she received a massage from defendant at Massage Inc. in Cotati, CA. The defendant massaged her entire buttocks and breasts and she reported defendant became aroused during the massage. During the course of the
investigation, it was discovered that defendant was not properly state certified to practice massage therapy within the City of Cotati.
Specifically, the defendant was sentenced to the following terms and conditions:
- 36 months formal probation
- Do not practice massage therapy for the term of probation
- 90 days jail
- Search and seizure
- Okay to lease out business to other massage therapists, but DO NOT be at place of business while clients are present.
- No contact with massage clients or potential massage clients.
- Standard fines and fees.
- 290 registration
- Do not leave CA without probation officer’s knowledge and permission.
The case was prosecuted by Deputy District Attorney Emily Malfatti. Officer Marcos Perez of the Cotati Police Department headed the investigation.
