Santa Rosa, CA – June 30, 2017 – Defendant
Artemio Sandoval-Rivera, 27 years old of Santa Rosa, pleaded no contest
today in front of the Honorable Dana Simmonds to a charge of Possession of
Methamphetamine for Sale and a sentencing enhancement alleging that he was in
possession of more than 1 kilogram of the drug.
Attorney Ravitch stated, “This defendant was in possession of a significant
amount of dangerous narcotics, and all indications point to his involvement in
a fairly sophisticated sales operation. We are pleased to be able to
enter into an agreement that holds this defendant accountable for his actions.”
resulted from a long-term investigation conducted by the Santa Rosa Police
Department Narcotics Division. On February 1, 2017, Artemio
Sandoval-Rivera, who was on probation at the time for narcotics related
offenses, was stopped and searched. Among items seized from
Sandoval-Rivera was a key ring containing 2 house keys. Detectives then
wrote search warrants for residences known to be frequented by
Sandoval-Rivera. At one location on Ironstone Circle detectives
discovered cutting agents for narcotics, 5 pounds of marijuana, and approximately
$24,000 in currency. At a second loacation on Burt Street detectives
discovered narcotics packaging materials, digital scales, approximately 3
pounds of Methamphetamine, and 3 pounds of Heroin.
agreement with Sandoval-Rivera requires him to forfeit all of the currency
seized in the investigation and stipulates that he will serve a 6 year prison
sentece. He is to be sentenced on August 11, 2017.
The case was
prosecuted by Deputy District Attorney Matt Hubley. The Santa Rosa
Police Narcotics Division headed the investigation.
