Dianna MacDonald

Dianna MacDonald-new pic 175Dianna MacDonald was the 2017-19 California State PTA President. A firm believer in early childhood education and family engagement, MacDonald has worked with all stakeholders and members of the state Education Coalition. 

She is a past school board trustee for the Cloverdale Unified School District and past member of the California School Boards Association (CSBA) Delegate Assembly. MacDonald completed the Masters in Governance programs through CSBA. Additionally, MacDonald has a deep understanding of school finance and policy.  She is certified in the new Local Control Funding Formula (LCFF) and the Local Control and Accountability Plan (LCAP) processes and has experience with local implementation. 

She has served PTA at the local, regional and state levels in various roles including serving as a family engagement legislative advocate, doing advocacy and policy work focusing on early-childhood education, child care, foster care, CalWORKs programs for low socio-economic and military families. MacDonald was elected to serve on the National PTA Nominating Leadership Recruitment Committee as a member as a member of this team they recruit and produce a slate of leaders for consideration at the National PTA Convention. 

Dianna also is an educational and community engagement consultant to the Sonoma County Sheriff. She will be providing feedback to the Sherriff’s office on educational programs provided to inmates as well as how to effectively build a more inclusive cohesive community. Dianna was appointed by the State Superintendent of Public Instruction, Tony Thurmond to serve on four different committees: Closing the Achievement Gap, Increasing K-12 Funding, Early Education, and Preparing Students for Tomorrow Committees. 

MacDonald was also recently elected to serve as a state commissionaire for the Western Accreditation of Schools and Colleges (WASC) Commission. The Commission is tasked with ensuring that the children attending accredited schools are receiving the highest level of education so that students may reach their fullest potential.

Dianna is a Sonoma County native, and lives in Santa Rosa where she and her husband Mike own North Bay Commercial Services Inc. (NBCS Inc.), a locally owned and operated commercial and residential heating and air conditioning business. As Vice President of NBCS Inc. MacDonald oversees all the finance and accounting for their business. Mike and Dianna have three sons, Denton, a new teacher in the public education system, Cole, a student at the University of Hawaii, Manoa majoring in communications, and Tanner, a student at the Santa Rosa Junior College majoring in physics.
