    On August 5, 2014, the Sonoma County Board of Supervisors declared August 2014 as Child Support Awareness Month. The Department of Child Support Services (DCSS) acknowledges that children grow up and accomplish more in all areas of their lives when they are able to maintain meaningful relationships with both parents. To encourage parents to stay involved, the California Department of Child Support Services, in partnership with the 51 local child support agencies throughout the state, commemorated Child Support Awareness Month by spreading the message: “On the road of life, their future starts with you.” Sonoma County expanded the outreach effort by sending public service announcements to over 80 media contacts.

    Sonoma County’s Mobile Support Team, launched in September 2012, responds in the field to law enforcement requests during a behavioral health crisis. During the first nine months of operation, the team responded to 533 calls and provided 128 referrals to supportive services.
