Proposed Fee Changes 2024-2025

The Sonoma County Board of Supervisors are conducting consolidated fee hearings on March 26, 2024, at 8:30 a.m. in the Board of Supervisors Chambers located at 575 Administration Drive in Santa Rosa. The Department of Agriculture/Weights & Measures is proposing fee increases for the Agriculture, Land Stewardship, and Weights & Measures divisions.

What You Need to Know about Oriental Fruit Fly Quarantines in Bay Area Counties

Attention wineries and processing facilities: Seven male oriental fruit flies were recently discovered near Brentwood and Oakley in east Contra Costa County, and eight male oriental fruit flies were discovered in Santa Clara and Sunnyvale in Santa Clara County, prompting extensive delimitation surveys and eradication plans in response.

Agricultural Pesticide Collection and Disposal Event – Pre-Registration Form (Napa, Sonoma and Marin Counties)

The Napa, Sonoma, and Marin County Agricultural Commissioner’s Offices are reaching out to gauge interest in a regional pesticide collection event that will provide our commercial operations with an opportunity to dispose of their unwanted pesticides for free (no home-use products will be accepted).  This is a collaborative effort with all costs related to hosting the event and disposal of collected pesticides being covered by US Environmental Protection Agency, the California Department of Pesticide Regulation, and the three participating counties’ Ag Departments.

Marin, Sonoma Agricultural Report Details Preparedness for Next Drought

Thanks to significant rainfall over the past several months, the North Bay region has rebounded well from the drought that ravaged Marin and Sonoma county agricultural businesses from 2019 to 2022. Reservoirs, creeks, and other freshwater sources that feed farms and ranches – and thus feed humans --are well-stocked again. Now, the agricultural community is analyzing its response to the emergency.
